  • THANK YOU, URAL! EXHIBITION OPENED IN SATKA

An outstanding series of exhibitions Thank You, Ural! Paintings of the 18th Century – Beginning of the 20th Century from the Collection of the State Russian Museum devoted to the celebration of the 70th anniversary of victory in the Great Patriotic War will be held in three cities and towns of Chelyabinsk Region: Chelyabinsk, Magnitogorsk and Satka.

The people of Satka will be able to see the selected paintings from the collection of the State Russian Museum. The exhibition in Magnezit Community Centre will be opened on 5 May at 17:00.

The expositions in Magnitogorsk and Chelyabinsk will be opened on 6 and 7 May, respectively.

Thank You, Ural! exhibition will demonstrate as many as 93 works of the iconic painters who lived and worked in the 18th century – beginning of the 20th century. The visitors will have the chance to see the works of Karl Bryullov, Alexey Venetsianov, Orest Kiprensky, Pavel Kuznetsov, Kazimir Malevich, Kuzma Petrov-Vodkin, Ilya Repin, Nikolay Rerikh, Alexey Savrasov, Heinrich Semiradsky and Ivan Shishkin.

Satka exhibition will include 4 unquestioned masterpieces from the collection of the Russian Museum: The Appearance of Three Angels to Abraham by the Oak of Mare by Karl Bryullov, famous The Sinner by Heinrich Semiradsky, Cartomancy by Alexey Venetsianov and The Portrait of Olimpiada Ryumina by Orest Kiprensky

As envisioned by the organizers, Thank You, Ural! exhibition will express the gratitude to the region and its people for their tremendous contribution to the victory in the Great Patriotic War.

In Satka, the exposition will last until 26 July 2015. It will continue the series of exhibitions organized by the Russian Museum together with Magnezit Group and Sobranie Fund to provide the people of South Ural access to the world’s best pieces of art. To recap, in 2013 Reply of the Zaporozhian Cossacks to Sultan Mehmed IV of the Ottoman Empire by Ilya Repin was exhibited in Satka, and in 2014 – The Ninth Wave by Ivan Aivazovsky. The exhibitions were well regarded by the spectators.
