Year of project creation: 2015

The State Tretyakov Gallery, with support of Magnezit Group, have launched the summer educational program, associated with 100th anniversary of creation of one of the central piece of art of the Russian avant-garde – The Black Square by Kazimir Malevich.

For the first time, The Black Square was presented to the public in December, 2015, and since then it is a subject of discussion and hot disputes, the range of viewers’ perception of this painting is extremely wide – from admiration to befuddlement.

A series of lectures and discussions, in which the Russian artists, art experts and critics will participate, will allow the interested viewer to understand the origins of the Russian avant-garve as a trend in art, its aesthetical and social context.

A series “Conversations about the Black Square” will be held from July 8 to September 30, 2015 in the summer palace of the State Tretyakov Gallery on Krymskiy Val. The entrance is free.

Meeting schedule can be accessed here.
