Conversations about The Black Square

The State Tretyakov Gallery, with support of Magnezit Group, have launched the summer educational program, associated with 100^th anniversary of creation of one of the central piece of art of the Russian avant-garde – The Black Square by Kazimir Malevich.

For the first time, The Black Square was presented to the public in December, 2015, and since then it is a subject of discussion and hot disputes, the range of viewers’ perception of this painting is extremely wide – from admiration to befuddlement.

A series of lectures and discussions, in which the Russian artists, art experts and critics will participate, will allow the interested viewer to understand the origins of the Russian avant-garve as a trend in art, its aesthetical and social context.

A series “Conversations about the Black Square” will be held from July 8 to September 30, 2015 in the summer palace of the State Tretyakov Gallery on Krymskiy Val. The entrance is free.
