Elena Obraztsova’s International Classical Music Festival “Carmen” will again be held from November 30 to December 3, in Satka, Magnezit Cultural Center, with the assistance of the Governor of the Chelyabinsk region, the Administration of the Satkinskiy Municipal District and the Sobranie Cultural Initiative Support and Preservation Fund. On the 85th birthday of Elena Vasilyevna Obraztsova, the philosophy of her multifaceted creative activity will become a tuning fork for all events of the festival.

Every day the festival spectators, experts in music, novice performers and professionals will take part in a creative dialog that will start with epigraphs — quotations from the books written and interviews given by Elena Vasilyevna Obraztsova. The festival events invite us to an endlessly creative, bright, multifaceted and philosophically wise world formed by the unique talent, wonderful, vast and attractive as the universe itself.

What is the power of creativity? How can an artist achieve success? What is the influence of the Russian culture in the world? And even: what’s the meaning of life? Elena Vasilyevna, as well as each visitor and participant of the festival, will answer these and other questions.

The program of the festival comprises events in different formats: an exhibition, a demonstration lesson, a meeting in a drawing room by candle light, an opera performance, a creative experiment, where choral singing will merge with the poetry of A.S. Pushkin, whose jubilee is also celebrated this year.

The universe of Carmen will submerge artists and spectators in a special space formed by the art of music, filled with radiant light that is inspiring and capable of opening any borders and eliminating any barriers. That was the special light coming from Elena Obraztsova — a great singer, an opera director and teacher — who will stay in our hearts forever. Here we applaud in her loving memory!
