  • MAGNEZIT ON THE PICTURESQUE MAP OF THE LAND OF WORKERS

08.02–08.02

Paintings by Lukia Murina and Nikolai Isaev, painters from Tomsk, who depicted industrial views of the Satka industrial site of Magnezit Group and the Satka Iron-Smelting Plant, have become an addition to the exhibition The Land of Workers. Industrial History and Modernity of Chelyabinsk Region in Paintings, dedicated to the 90th anniversary of the region.

The display was set up in the multimedia park Russia: My History in Chelyabinsk.

‘Having opened in January, the project has attracted a lot of visitors already. It offers a unique perspective on the industrial sector of the South Urals area, created by the brushes of talented painters. Their art reflects the beauty and the magnificence of industry in our region. The artwork presented at the exhibition was created using different techniques, in various genres and art styles, but all of it allows visitors to see the ‘heart” of the region's industrial enterprises,’ the press-office of the park remarked.

Thanks to Magnezit Group and the company's corporate museum, on February 7, paintings by Lukia Murina and Nikolay Isaev (Tomsk), members of the Russian Association of Artists, became part of the exhibition. For the time of the display, the Magnezit Museum lent four paintings created by the Tomsk artists in 2018 during their visit to Satka to the gallery: Magnezit. View From a Multiple-Bedded Furnace and Magnezit. Rotating Furnaces for Baking of Raw Material by Lukia Murina (paper, acrylic, marker pen); Receiving Hoppers of the Crushing and Dressing Plant and The Satka Iron-Smelting Plant by Nikolai Isaev (canvas, oil).

By the way, Lukia and Nikolai have come to work in Satka twice. In the spring of 2018, they made their first visit to our city with the exhibition Uralo-Kuzbass, presenting industrial landscapes: industrial plants of Chelyabinsk, Kemerovo and Novokuznetsk. Their second art mission in Satka took place in July later that year. The painters worked at Magnezit, collecting material for new projects, gave master-classes for children and presented the exhibition Magnezit as the Object of Art.

- ‘Magnezit is the first industrial enterprise in the Urals area that I paint from the inside. Previously, I worked with panoramic views that open to everyone, from a window of a train or a bus for example. As an artistic concept, Magnezit is very large, complex and interesting. It combines many different industrial production facilities into a single complex. It is most interesting to tour various sites, visit various locations and see various industrial processes, structures and units. Everything has its distinct features,’ said Lukia in one of her interviews to the Magnezitovets newspaper.

The exhibition The Land of Workers... will operate through February 29. Admission is free. Visitors are welcome at: 183 ul. Truda; phone: + 7 (351) 217-70-77.
