Year of project creation: 2021

The Days of German Culture were held in Satka in 2021 as part of the Year of Germany in Russia/Deutschlandjahr in Russland.

Thanks to the Satka District Development Assistance Fund application which was approved for funding by the international jury of the project competition within “Days of German Culture in Russian Regions 2021”, the town became one of the project sites.

The project events introduced Satka residents to different spheres of German life by combining history, education, public initiatives and culture, Satka and Mannheim, contemporary art and centuries-old traditions. The program of the Days of German Culture included creative meetings with artists, musicians and philosophers, exhibitions, screenings of German films, lectures, public talks and workshops.

The world-famous German artist Hendrik Beikirch and the popular street artist, illustrator Natalia Pastukhova from Yekaterinburg created new murals for the city with the help of residents and volunteers.

The street art festival STADT.WAND.KUNST, which has been held in Mannheim since 2013, was presented in Satka thanks to the joint work of the festival organizers and the Sobranie Fund. The Magnezit Cultural Center hosted an exhibition telling about the festival and making parallels between the cultural images of the two cities.

The creative meetings “German Expressionism” and “Neue Deutsche Welle” invited everyone to watch silent films of the 1920s to the sounds of live music and get familiar with the work of young German filmmakers of the 1970s.
