The Magnezit Cultural Center has opened the exhibition A Piece of News, dedicated to the topic of communication in different eras and opening a cycle of events under the project The Russian Museum. Satka.
There are over 20 works of art displayed in the exhibition hall of the cultural center, each taking you to the world of information and, through various forms of art – from icon painting to modern media projects – communicating all kinds of news and meanings to us. One important thing is that the artists place a human being, their perception of news and the way information changes the circumstances of their life in the center of any events and changes. The organizers point out that "a piece of news" is the first cross-cutting theme of the exhibition, the second one being the impact of new means of communication on the language of art itself, which is felt especially acutely since the time of the avant-garde’.
‘I’d like to thank everyone who came here today and those who are going to visit the exhibition in the next few days. This is most important to us. This project is one of the projects designed to promote Russian art via presenting works of art from the collection of the Russian Museum, which we are presenting in various regions of Russia, because not all Russians can travel to visit the Russian Museum,’ said Denis Selyanin, Deputy Director for Exhibitions of the State Russian Museum. ‘Thanks to the many years of fruitful cooperation with Magnezit Group, this is not our first visit to Satka. There’s a virtual branch of our museum operating here as well. I’m sure it’s very popular. The project we unveil today shows what a piece of news is, how fast time changes, how to catch what’s key in a flow of information, how art dictates information, what the artist was trying to say, and what major meanings were coded into every work of art. All types of visual art: painting, graphics, sculpture, decorative and applied art, and modern art. Let me congratulate us all on this event! We owe a lot of gratitude to Magnezit Group, to the cultural center and to the Satka Administration for organizing it. It’s a great pleasure to be here. We hope we’ll be able to see each other more often!’
Satka has become the first town the exhibition A Piece of News was taken to after the large-scale exhibition of it at the Russian Museum closed.
“We invested a lot of time, working with our colleagues in order to make the exhibition nicely fit into the relatively small space at the Magnezit Cultural Center. From the Russian Museum exhibition where we had thousands of square meters, we selected works that are appropriate to fit into this room and cover all the genres and art techniques, in order to convey the theme of the exhibition very clearly,’ explained Denis Selyanin as he was answering the questions of the Magnezitovets reporter. As he spoke of the plans regarding the project The Russian Museum. Satka he added:
‘It a large, ambitious project, we are discussing and preparing along with Magnezit Group, the city and the region, and with the Ministry of Culture. Its implementation will take time and a lot of work since this is going to be a full-fledged branch of the Russian Museum in Satka. Apart from exhibitions, there are plans for creating open spaces, public talks, lecture spaces, and venues for meetings and communication. We’ve got an excellent example of that already, which is Art-Satka. The Russian Museum can present any of its projects this way’, Denis Selyanin said. ‘We are immersing ourselves very deeply into working with regions so that (even if that sounds a bit “loud”) anyone in Russia is able to see Russian art and expand their knowledge and their horizons by getting to know it.’
Aleksandr Glazkov, Head of Satka Municipal District, added that the next exhibition under the project The Russian Museum. Satka was to take place just before the Victory Day.
The exhibition A Piece of News will be open to visitors till June 1, daily, from 11:00 to 19:00. Admission is free. Tour booking is available via the phone number of the local history museum: 3-22-63. Magnezitians and their families can visit the exhibition according to the schedule sent to all units of the company.
