20 applications came from residents of Satka District for the international contest Hand in Art, which was announced as part of the project The Imaginary Museum of Mikhail Shemyakin.
The application period of the contest will continue through November 1. Natalya Vodoleyeva, a public creative space moderator will give a talk called “What Hands can Tell Us. A Non-Boring Journey to the Word of Art” in order to help the contestants with the original presentation and production of their works and give them the chance to get answers to their questions. You are all welcome to come on October 30, at 5:30 p.m.
“When we look at portraits, we look in the eyes intently, trying to read “the stories” of those people. Let’s talk of the symbolism of gestures, how painters depicted a hand and what information it conveyed,” says Natalya Vodoleyeva. – The participants are also going to receive exciting assignments and the change to ask questions to experts. What experts? Come and find out! It will be fun!
Don’t forget that the outcome of the contest Hand in Art, with the support of Magnezit Group, the exhibition project The Imaginary Museum of Mikhail Shemyakin. Hand in Art will open in Satka on November 27. The project will present works by modern artists selected on a competitive basis as well as the materials produce through many years of research done by Mikhail Shemyakin. According to the organizers, this is going to be a science exhibition showing the practical and the metaphysical meanings of the hand and revealing the transformation of that image in visual arts from the ancient times up to this day.
