FOR INFORMATION:

Oleg Chirkov spent more than 40 years working in the healthcare system of the Chelyabinsk Region. He started practicing medicine in Zlatoust in June 1982 after graduating from Tomsk Medical Institute. In 1993, he became the chief medical officer at Children’s Municipal Hospital No. 3 in Zlatoust, and in 1996 – the head of the Zlatoust Municipal Healthcare Administration. He moved to Satka in February 2001, assuming the positions of the chief medical officer at the occupational health facility of Magnezit and the head of the Municipal Healthcare Administration. From 2009 to his last days, Oleg Chirkov was Director General of the LaVita medical and preventive care facility. All his life was the hard work of a person who loved his job immensely and achieved a lot in service to society as well as in the medical field. He came up with the idea and was the mind behind the art song festival “Friends are leaving...” dedicated to the memory of Igor Sharov, which was a regular event in the 1990s and early 2000s, first in Zlatoust and then in Satka. Oleg Chirkov was a member of the city’s Public Council for Healthcare and, in his last years, a member of the Civic Chamber of Satka District. He passed away on February 12, 2022 due to a critical illness.

Yevgeniy Bannikov was a poet, a composer, the author and the singer of his songs, and a mountain-climber. In 1984-1986, he served in F. Dzerzhinskiy Army Division in Moscow. He worked as a trainer at the Satka Young Tourists Club and, at the same time, worked with children at the Satka Amateur Song Club. Yevgeniy Bannikov was the main organizer of the Satka Art Song Festival (1991-1997). He wrote over 100 songs. In a duet with Leonid Kurbatov, he became a laureate of the Ilmen Art Song Festival (1989, 1990, 1991), the Grushin Art Song Festival (1993, 1994), and the Sochi Art Song Festival (1996). In 1997, the Morimosha Amateur Song Club (Chelyabinsk) released a collection of songs “On a Hunch-Backed Ural Ridge” under its series “The Bards of the Urals”, which included 49 works by Yevgeniy Bannikov, the best known of those being: “The Snows”, “Water Runs Out of the Glacier”, “There, We’ve Gotten Together. Dedication to the Ilmen Festival”. Yevgeniy was a professional mountain-climber and hillwalker. He took part in top complexity level hiking tours and alpine search-and-rescue operations. He climbed the Elbrus over ten times. He conquered five mountains higher than 7,000 m in mountain-climbing groups: Lenin Peak, Communism Peak, Korzhenevskoi Peak (Pamir Mountains), Pobeda Peak and Khan Tengri (Tian Shan Mountains), for which he was informally titled “The Snow Leopard”. Yevgeniy worked as an operative cameraman for the movie “7134” while climbing Lenin Peak. He died tragically on Lenin Peak (Pamir Mountains), on July 18, 2024.
