  • NEW MOSAICS FOR SATKA

Another bus stop in Satka will be decorated with mosaics. The stone painting will be laid out by Moscow artists Mariya Volokhonskaya and Mariya Laricheva. The project is implemented with the support of the Sobranie Fund and the Satka District Administration.

It is not the first time when the creative duo comes to Satka. The artists decorated bus stops of the old part of the city and the Western District with mosaics together with local volunteers within the framework of the Street Mosaics School of My Satka Festival in 2017 and 2018. Their works “Human and Bird” and “Airship” reminding of stone puzzles became new sights of the city.

“Satka is an amazing city. Here you can see the mountains from any point, it’s very beautiful,” says Mariya Volokhonskaya. “By the way, Masha and I usually work with mosaics separately from each other, but Satka united us into a team.”

This time the creative duo will make a mosaic panel at the Pervomaisky bus stop. Magnesite and dolomite will be used as materials. A bird of white stone will be in the center of the composition. Since the bus stop is next to the city park (the Karginsky Park), the mosaics will capture the patterns of nature and humans. The artists divided the concrete canvas into halves. Each of them came up with a pattern for her half.

“Satka has become a home to us. One way or another, we get to know about its life, the projects implemented here. And when we were once again invited, we gladly agreed to come,” says Mariya Laricheva. “That time I drew a swinging girl, Masha drew a cyclist. They seem to be reaching out to each other. And there is a feeling of an open book or screen curtain.”
