  • ZINOVIEV PHENOMENON

21.05–21.05

The citizens of Satka had an opportunity to learn about life and work of the Russian thinker, social philosopher and writer Alexander Zinoviev at the meeting with representatives of Zinoviev's club of Russia Today news agency that took place on May 21 in the recreation center "Magnezit".

The attendees of the event learned about the twists and turns of fate of Alexander Alexandrovich from those closest to him - his wife Olga Mironovna, Co-Chairman of the Zinoviev Club of Russia Today, Honorary President of the International Society "Russia - Germany", head of the International Scientific and Educational Center named after Zinoviev, director of the Alexander Zinoviev Biographical Institute, and his younger daughter, Ksenia, art director of the Zinoviev Club at the Russia Today news agency, pianist, and composer. Also attending the event were Vladimir Lepekhin, sociologist, political scientist, journalist, political figure, director of the EurAsEC-EAEC Institute and Sergey Dvoryanov, Russian public figure, PhD in philosophy, writer, publicist, host of "Dialogue of Civilizations" on Balance-TV and "Formula of Probability" on LDPR-TV.

- Some people wonder, how a Russian patriot could go into exile? We didn't go into exile, we were forced out of the Soviet Union on August 6, 1978, given less than a week to pack up. The reason for the expulsion of Alexander Alexandrovich - Russian philosopher, prominent Soviet logician, academician of numerous academies of sciences, frontline veteran, Guards captain of assault aviation, decorated with numerous medals and orders - was the book "The Yawning Heights". After its publication, he suddenly became an enemy of the people, a criminal. Alexander Alexandrovich was expelled from all organizations at once, even those in which he was not a member. His personality helped him get through that time. Alexander Alexandrovich was a resilient struggler.

Even more biographical facts were revealed to the attendees of the meeting by the documentary film "I will protect you, oh era that gave birth to me," created on the channel of the Federation Council. The film revealed another of his talents: his talent as an artist.

- From the film we learned that Alexander Alexandrovich would constantly draw sketches, even on napkins. Should he be with us today, here, what would he draw, in your opinion? - we asked Ksenia Zinovieva.

- Dad stood out not only as an artist, but as a sociologist, he could scan space. He probably would have drawn up some situation. I would fantasize, maybe depict a multi-headed fantastical animal that states something, draws something at the same time. Why do I think so? When I was a kid, my dad once drew me with one hand playing the piano, eating a cutlet with the other, and doing homework with the foot, - she said, smiling.

Everyone could ask their questions to the representatives of the Zinoviev Club.

- If you imagine schoolchildren graduating in 50 to 100 years from now, what will they be reading, what will they be thinking about, and what kind of life school will they have so that the new person Alexander Alexandrovich was talking about will emerge among them? – was one of these.

- It is impossible to say exactly what will children be reading 100 years from now. Yet I want to believe that Zinoviev's books will be included. They have recently begun to be published again and have become in demand and popular among young people. This is wonderful, because Zinoviev's writings are one of the points of support and intellectual and moral revival of the mass reader, - says Vladimir Lepekhin. – Zinoviev's scientific legacy is promising because it is directly related to the fate of our country. Both the success of readers and their level of education are linked to the study of the work of this brilliant scientist.

- And what is the mission of your club, and what message did Alexander Alexandrovich leave you? – says the next question.

- Alexander Alexandrovich left a message for everyone, not just his daughters and me, in the book “The Understanding Factor”. The title alone speaks of what was central to his life and the cornerstone of his teachings. Go through the endless ladder of learning about the world. Learn to think, pursue knowledge. Fight for the right to bear the title of a reasonable person, - Olga Mironovna answers. -  This book is being prepared for reissue. I assure you that you will be among its first readers. And in the near future the funds of the libraries of your city will be replenished with other works of Alexander Zinoviev.  Magnezit Group purchased a large number of books. I brought some of it with me as a gift. This is the first time we are here, but we look forward to a long-term friendship, cooperation, and collective knowledge of the Zinoviev phenomenon. The work of our club goes far beyond Moscow. But Paris, Sevastopol, Makhachkala, and other cities in Russia and Europe are one thing. It is quite different when the invitation comes from a city with a fantastic history and an unusual fate. It means the world for us. Hence, we express our gratitude to you for this initiative and invitation.

- The main idea of my father's teaching is to be able to think. Thinking is the main tool of any human being. It is given to all of us. Think, act, read. We stand out from other intellectual clubs in that we have no doubts, we accept everyone, even if you are a follower of cacti on Mars. Come and tell about it. Why not? It's a school of its own, too. It is important that we all hear each other and be able to think. This is the only way to make a constructive contribution to peace, - Ksenia Zinovieva says.
