  • WE INVITE YOU TO PARTICIPATE IN UNIQUE PROJECT

The Sobranie Fund and Art-Satka, the creative public space, organize a unique event in Satka. You can participate in a new project, Laboratory for a documentary theater “In Between”.

Olga Komleva, the author and curator of the project, noted: “It is a social project where we will jointly create a comfortable and caring environment to communicate with elderly people, the veterans of the Magnezit plant. They lack our attention. We don’t have time for long conversations, we are all in a hurry, but for our “grandmothers” and “grandfathers” it’s important to share their memories, their background and just to laugh together with us. Especially this lack of communication intensified during the pandemic.

We offer you to support this great initiative and invite you to the “In Between” Laboratory, where participants can learn how to practice a documentary theater, to conduct in depth interviews with further verbatim theater monologues of the veterans.

Modern theater practice is a tool which helps the participants of the Laboratory to create a comfortable environment for people’s lives and communication,” Olga said.

The Laboratory is to be held from May 24 to June 4. The participants will present the project results within the site-specific show. During rehearsals they will learn how to work with the light, sound, create performance draft in a non-acting space, in places connected symbolically with the veterans, for example, in the industrial site of Magnezit Group, Magnezit Cultural Center and other memorable and significant places for the veterans.

People of all ages, profession, life experience can take part in the Laboratory. The key point is personal motivation, willingness to collaborate with the elderly people and master the modern theater practice.

Attention! Meeting with the curator will take place on April 11, Sunday, at 1.00 pm in Art-Satka, the creative public space. We invite all interested people to meet Olga Komleva, the curator of interdisciplinary programs of the National Center for Contemporary Art, get details of the project and ask questions. The conversation will continue online: several more meetings of the Laboratory are planned in April.

NB: please inform on your intent to participate in the project in advance. Please send your motivation letter at olga_uralncca@mail.ru, make sure you specified your full name, age, range of interest and an answer to the question: why do you want to participate in the Laboratory?

Application submission deadline is April 10.
