  • FAMILY PORTRAIT EXHIBITION

From 13 August to 13 October, the Benois Block of the Russian Museum will host the exhibition devoted to the family portrait. The exposition will present 200 paintings, graphics and sculptures created from the 18th century to the present days. Magnezit Group is one of the main partners of the exposition.

The visitors of the exhibition will be able to see the works of the artists of the Peter the Great time, the prominent painters of the second half of the 18th century – beginning of the 19th century (D. Levitsky, F. Rokotov, V. Borovikovsky). The exposition of the 19th century will include the examples of the family portrait in the interiors, the works covering the everyday life.

An artist among his family, the theme which was quite widely spread in the Russian art, will hold a special place in the exhibition. It will also have a photo section with family photographs from archives and media installations based on photo materials provided by St. Petersburg people to the museum.

“The strategic priorities of our company in the social policy include harmonious development of the personality and improvement of the cultural and educational level,” emphasizes director of Magnezit Group Sergey Odegov. “Cooperation with the Russian Museum is very important for us, as it contributes to the promotion of historical and cultural heritage of the nation, its preservation and multiplication.”

In 2012, Magnezit Group joined The Friends of the Russian Museum International Society. Over the past few years, the efficient cooperation helped to implement a series of unique projects, hold a number of exhibitions, including Realism in the Russian Art of the Second Part of the 20th Century with the works of the recognized classics of the Soviet art, arrange the expositions of legendary works of Ilya Repin Reply of the Zaporozhian Cossacks to Sultan Mehmed IV of the Ottoman Empire and Ivan Aivazovsky The Ninth Wave in small industrial town Satka (Chelyabinsk Region). In the framework of development of the cooperation, it is planned to open a cultural and educational centre in Satka similar to a fully functional branch of the Russian Museum and to hand over a part of exhibits from the museum storage to it.
