  • A WORLD WITHOUT BORDERS

The forum for development of cultural initiatives “A World Without Borders” will be held from December 10 to 12, 2012. It is not a mere chance that Satka, one of small towns in Chelyabinsk Region, was chosen as the place for this forum.

The mainstay for revival of Russian society, its cultural values and traditions, spiritual and moral ideals is the development of small towns. Cultural, educational, scientific and artistic initiatives are aimed at all-round and harmonious development of personality, upbringing of new generation of modern people, needed in the innovative economy. This is particularly important for Ural region, with high concentration of mono-towns. Challenges attributable to development of this territory are inseparable from matters of transformation of society. Organization of public discussion is one step towards the solution of problems of relations in society.

Administration of Satka municipal district, the All-Russian State Library for Foreign Literature named after M.I. Rudomino (VGBIL), Sobranie Cultural Initiative Supporting & Preservation Fund and Magnezit Group acted as initiators and architects of the Forum.

The round-table discussion named “Library builds bridges”, dedicated to the role of educational and enlightening organizations in formation of modern, harmonious personality, open for large-scale changes, and problems of humanity of society, in its new meaning, would be the central event of the Forum.

Within the Forum’s main sections, namely “Education”, “Creation”, “Psychology”, “Possibilities”, seminars, meeting sessions and dialogs of prominent members of the community with representatives of public authorities, professional and concerned public of Satka district and Chelyabinsk Region would take place.

General Director of VGBIL E.Y. Genieva will act as moderator for round-table discussion, and will give lecture named “The last tragedy of Pushkin”, dedicated to intricate and complicated life of the great Russian poet.

The open teacher-parents meeting on the topic “School and its vicinity” shall be held by Evgeniy Yamburg, Honoured Teacher of Russia, Doctor of Education, Corresponding Member of the Russian Academy of Sciences. This meeting with parents and teachers will be dedicated to the complicated matter of interrelation of a school and its vicinity, the experience of many years of examination of behaviour, interests, special psychological features of children and teenagers.

During special session held within this open dialog, Honoured Scientist of the Russian Federation, professor, Doctor of Psychology and Corresponding Member of the Russian Academy of Sciences A.A. Rean will answer the questions of professional teachers about psychology of personality and special aspects of personality of teenagers.

Children and their parents will also meet and will be able to communicate face to face with iconic figure of modern animation G.Y. Bardin – the author of celebrated animated film “The Ugly Duckling”. This meeting would become memorable for children, whose drawings provided the basis for animated cartoon “Our Help-mate Magnezit”, as well as for students of Children’s Rehabilitative Animation Studios (DARS).

The meeting session “Around the world with no roads” will be held by the world-renowned journalist and explorer, Doctor of Geographic Sciences, founder of the European School for Survival Jacek Palkiewicz. He will tell about how it feels to be a pioneer in the age of Internet, about interesting geographic discoveries, how to overcome psychological barriers, about the human’s survival capabilities in the most extreme conditions.

S.A. Grigoriev, senior research associate at South Ural branch of Institute of History and Archaeology of Ural department of the Russian Academy of Sciences, stands ready to share the most up to date information on Zyuratkul “moose” – the only geoglyph on the territory of Russia and the most ancient one in the world, located near Zyuratkul lake, Satka district, Chelyabinsk Region. According to S.A. Grogoriev, this geoglyph, created during the period from 6th to 3rd millennium B.C., proved to be much more interesting than it initially appeared.

The Magnezit cultural center, being the central hub for cultural and creative life of the town and the district, will provide a place for the Forum. This center was built during difficult period right after the Great Patriotic War by workers of Magnezit factory, and was recognized as the best public building in USSR in 1951.
